What's Going On in the Canine Classroom?
In math and social studies we are exploring money and economics. The pups have practiced and discussed types of coins, their value, different ways to represent the same amount of money. We will be looking at wants and needs, consumers and producers, saving money, and more.We are tying in our math and social studies units to Class Dojos. Pups are earning pennies based on earning dojos. They are saving their dojo coins in a cup at school so that they can "buy" prizes from our Dojo menu. Please ask your pup how much money they have saved, spent, and what they are trying to earn.
At home practice for math...
As mentioned above, we are talking about money in school. We also continue to discuss telling time to the 5-minute intervals. Please encourage your pup to practice these (and all) concepts at home using coins and clocks.
In reading we are thinking and discussing how characters feel throughout a story and how those feelings change based on events. We continue to go back and reference the text to support our thoughts and answers. Please continue to read EVERY day with your pup and discuss the text that you read!
We have begun reading, discussing, and writing poems in writing.
Beginning NEXT week, the pups are invited to read poems at home and bring them in to share and discuss with the class.
